The Home of Africa's Champions

The East Africa Badminton Challenge 2025 is set to begin on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The 8th East Africa Badminton Challenge has received a significant boost with the donation of 125 trophies and a substantial UGX 11 million in prize money from the Mandela Group of Companies.
This token of support was officially handed over to the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) at the City Tyres’ head office in Kampala on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Speaking at the launch, UBA CEO Simon Mugabi expressed his gratitude to the Mandela Group of Companies and highlighted the magnitude of this regional tournament.
“We are excited to launch this tournament and are humbled and thankful for the support garnered from the Mandela Group of Companies,” Mugabi stated. “I am sure this tournament will provide great exposure.”
He added, “The event has attracted participants from across the world. This is very important for our players as they will face credible opponents who will test their progress as the year concludes.”
The eighth edition of the tournament has drawn over 1,500 players who will be competing for the UGX 11 million cash prize. The competition has received registrations from across the host country, Uganda, with the furthest entry coming from the Cook Islands.
Players will represent the host country, Uganda, along with Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. They will participate in different age categories—U-10, U-13, U-15, and U-19—in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events for both genders.
In a new development for this year’s edition, there will be a special category where coaches will compete against each other.
